Internet explorer bogging down possible reason?

It's come to my attention that the phishing filter which comes with some recent versions of Internet explorer , can cause problems slowing page loads.

I checked if this was the cause of my problems by temporarily turning off the Phishing Filter. I had noticeable improvement.


Here are the steps to try turning it off.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps:1. Start Internet Explorer 7.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Disable Phishing Filter in the Settings list.
4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
5. Restart Internet Explorer 7.

Everyone is using Firefox these days instead of IE, maybe that might be an idea?

I'm not using Firefox. I stick to IE.

We've been advised at work by our IT department to uninstall IE7 and reinstall IE6 for this very reason. It's full of bugs - big ones, 8 legs at least.
