It's come to my attention that the phishing filter which comes with some recent versions of Internet explorer , can cause problems slowing page loads. You can read more about this here: www.heise-security.co.uk/news/82685Mircosoft Update page with update repair: support.microsoft.com/kb/928089I checked if this was the cause of my problems by temporarily turning off the Phishing Filter. I had noticeable improvement. Here are the steps to try turning it off. WORKAROUND To work around this problem, follow these steps:1. Start Internet Explorer 7. 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. 3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Disable Phishing Filter in the Settings list. 4. Click Apply, and then click OK. 5. Restart Internet Explorer 7. If this helps you , visit the microsoft pg above, and download the appropriate download for your system.

Everyone is using Firefox these days instead of IE, maybe that might be an idea?

We've been advised at work by our IT department to uninstall IE7 and reinstall IE6 for this very reason. It's full of bugs - big ones, 8 legs at least.
